Zambia joined the rest of the world in commemorating the Labor Day which falls on the first day of May every year.
In Lusaka the occasion was graced by the Republican President MR. Micheal Chilufya Sata. Members of the Cabinet Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, defense force chiefs and labor movement officials were also present. The first Republican president Dr David Kenneth Kaunda was not left behind, him being an important person as he is the one that led the liberation struggle that liberated Zambia from colonial rule. Zambia is this year celebrating its golden jubilee of independence and the theme for this year’s Labor Day was in line with the golden jubilee, the Labor Day theme was “Zambia at 50, creating decent work and promoting social-economic justice for national development.”
The events were characterized by a colorful march, displays and performances from various government ministries and departments, private owned companies, and educational institutions, among others.
In Livingstone the event was grace by the Minister of Transport, Hon.Yamfwa Mukanga.
Response Network celebrated the event in Kazungula District since it is the main working area for the general program. In Kazungula the guest of honor was the District Commissioner Mrs. Pascalina Musokotwane.
The award from Response Network was scooped by Mr. Caleb Chabauni, the buildings officer for the most hardworking employee. He walked away with 6 boxes of floor tiles.
